Abstract

The wastes from industrial activities (mining industry, construction and demolition …) are the main environmental problem in European countries. In light of that statistic, the European Commission and the Council approved Directive 2008/98/EC on waste, subsequently transposed into national law by the EU Member States. This legislation aims to foster sustainable development based on the principle of the “3Rs”: reduce (the volume of waste generated), reuse and recycle. The aim of this thesis is to analysis the viability of reuse the wastes from mining industry by manufacture of new eco-efficient materials of cementitious products in civil engineering. The physical, mechanical and durable properties will be determined for verify the comply with the requisites established in current standards.
