Abstract

Two species of Aphis (Hemiptera, Aphididae, Aphidina) live on plants of native species of Eryngium (Apiaceae) in Argentina: A. fabae and A. asclepiadis. A. fabae was recorded from Argentina in the first third of 20th century under the name of its synonym A. eryngii; whose taxonomic status is discussed together with those of other species of Aphis established by E.E. Blanchard at same time. A. asclepiadis is recorded for the first time in Argentina; its identification features are exposed, including a table of quantitative characteristics.
