Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis New targets in plant boron deficiency response Nglycosylation and regulation of root developement 2016. Supervised by Dr. Ildefonso Bonilla Mangas, Dr. Luis Bolaños Rosa.

Trained as a biologist, I possess 15 years of experience in the field of mineral nutrition of bacteria, plants and humans. My technical repertoire spans across physiology (traditional and high-throughput phenotyping), cellular biology (fluorescent probes, confocal microscopy), molecular genetics (modular cloning, synthetic biology, mutagenesis/overexpression,), biochemistry (protein purification, metal binding, enzymatic assays, and protein-protein interaction), to more exotic biophysical methods such as X-Ray Fluorescence and Spectroscopy or isotope incorporation studies. I was recently awarded a Ramón y Cajal Fellowship 2024 (RYC2024-048786-I) by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) to join the “Fisiología y Biotecnología de las Plantas” group (FISIOVEGEN) and the "Instituto de Biología Molecular, Genómica y Proteómica" (INBIOMIC) at Universidad de León, where I will apply my expertise in novel molecular techniques and synthetic biology to develop biotechnological solutions for the sustainable production of food (increase nutrient absorption and pest tolerance) and prevent the malabsorption of iron by humans and animals (leading to iron deficiency and anemia), the most prevalent nutritional deficiency worldwide.
