Abstract
Abstract: This Doctoral Thesis is a research of the late gothic churches in the province of Burgos, conducting a detailed catalogue of all of them, many unpublished, with a planimetric and photographic study. These buildings are dated between the arrival of Juan de Colonia (1440) and the death of his son Simón de Colonia (1511). Both of them are determinant for creating the Burgos School, especially Simón, who begins to act more as a modern architect than as a medieval master mason. Starting from them an important circle of teachers is originated carrying out a series of works formally connected creating new architectural and decorative models, as the centralized funeral chapels and the openwork or warped vault. These models will be disseminated throughout the peninsula making the late gothic continue until well into the 16th century.
