Abstract
The thesis developed is aimed at the experimental determination of fundamental hermodynamic properties that allow a better understanding of new components that can potentially be used in second-generation bio-fuel of low environmental impact. The bio-additives studied in this work have been mainly ether and n-alkanol, taken as possible compounds of high added value in future biofuels. Density and enthalpy are magnitudes in the liquid region. Their precise measurements are needed for the development of many industrial processes, because of the understanding of both the structure and thermodynamic properties of fluids. The techniques used in this work are: (i) the technique of vibrating tube densimeter at high pressure and temperature and (ii) a technique for the measurement the excess enthalpy of liquid mixtures through an isothermal flow calorimeter. Data were measured on 34 systems (pure compound, binary and ternary mixtures) consisting of reference hydrocarbons and oxygenated additives mentioned.
