Abstract
There is currently a debate about epistemological constructs "model" and "modeling" and how they link with notions of theory, explanation, prediction and experimentation in the context of computer simulations used in contemporary research. This paper presents an analysis of computer simulations notions used in science and simulations notions used in science teaching with different groups of junior researchers, from a phenomenographic perspective. A qualitative approach was adopted to understand and interpret the meanings that scientists from different areas assigned to computer simulations. There were obtained heterogeneous visions on the model concept and computer simulation. Some researchers support the notion of computer simulation that does not correspond completely with that accorded in scientific activity. This complex aspect of contemporary scientific activity fails to be addressed in science classes in high school and makes difficult the construction of a nature of science vision more near to scientists work.
