Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this work is to study the application of William Layton¿s acting system and methodological keys in the theatre-making processes, specially focusing on directing actors. The raison d¿être of this study is the importance of William Layton¿s contribution to the modernization of theatre teaching techniques in Spain as well as the research and innovations in performing arts developed by the creative teams in which William Layton took part. For this investigation an inductive approach has been used, through bibliographic studies, research in acting techniques and performance analysis based on the basic principles of stage directing and key assumptions of William Layton¿s poetics.
