Resumen
The course ―Information and Scientific Methodology‖ supply generic competences: scientific literature retrieval, structure and format of scientific documents. To demonstrate these competencies students must elaborate a scientific text and some slides. After 5 years of experience we found that more than 90 % of students were able to achieve the learning objectives. The average time of individual work that students spent in its realization was 25-30 hours. The sources of information most used were generic and institutional web sites, books and scientific articles in Spanish. Teachers‘ non-contact working time has decreased from 35 minutes per student in the first years to 25 minutes in 2012/13. Also we observed decrease of plagiarism from 20 % to 13 % in the last three courses. These reductions are attributed to improvements in instructions for the preparation of contents, structure and format of the reports and the diffusion of the rules against plagiarism.
