Abstract

The considerable theoretical and methodological background existing in Qualitative Research in the Social and Health Sciences opens a range of analytical possibilities that raise numerous questions. What capacity for transformation have qualitative analyses in the face of health problems, so that they deserve to be dealt with in this field, what interest does it have for health professionals to face these analyses, what guidelines should they follow to carry out a systematic process? The answers will allow to improve sanitary practices in processes of change. Therefore, the aim of the article is to guide the researcher in the planning, development and analysis of data in qualitative studies. Taking as a model an international investigation, the focus group technique is shown as a method of obtaining information, deepening in the group design, session script, management and information analysis. All this to identify needs for informed decision making.
