Abstract
This paper presents an approach to the music chapel that the University of Salamanca held between 1738 and 1781 and its repertoire from the perspective of their contribution to a celebrative model. First, the study reviews the evolution of the academic festive organization in the first half of the eighteenth century which greatly affected secular celebrations but is hardly perceived in the religious ones. The music chapel is linked to the church feasts, and will be seen as an element of institutional representation. Subsequently, an overview of the repertoire and its ceremonial context is provided, focusing on the stylistic evolution and gradual divergence of villancicos and cantatas.
