Zusammenfassung

El Toral III rockshelter is one of the few sites from the Cantabrian Region with human remains of three different chronologies. This preliminary study focuses on the anthropological characterisation of the late hunter-gatherers and first farmers buried in this archaeological site. Minimum Number of Individuals was assessed as well as sexual determination, age and statureestimation, and palaeopathological analysis was carried out. Results showed two Mesolithic individuals inhumated inside the shell midden, four individuals buried inside a funerary structure and its nearby area and three individuals deposited in surface stratigraphical units.
