Abstract

The differences between sportswomen's legal status and their work are the result of their difficult historical relationship with sports practice. The precarious conditions they suffer make sport one of the areas where inequality between men and women is most evident. In addition to an unacceptable exclusion of professionalism, women athletes have to face another series of difficulties in their job performance, such as harassment and gender-based violence, the salary gap, anti-pregnancy clauses or certain health issues that do not include an adequate gender perspective. Finally, gender separation is questioned in some competitions.
