Zusammenfassung

The Stephanian unconformable successions of the Picos de Europa Province constitute good examples of syn-tectonic sedimentation in wedge-top basins related with the late Variscan thrusting. These successions are punctuated by many unconformities and syntectonic unconformities, which bear witness of the tectonic activity and individualize 3rd order depositional sequences. Based on some well exposed examples located in the Gamonedo-Cabrales-Panes sector, we propose a mixed tectonic and glacio-eustatic model for the development of these sequences and their bounding unconformities.
