Resumen

Research groups (Engineering Geomatics and Urban Heritage of the University of Extremadura and PANGEA of the University of Valladolid) are working together since 1991, in the study and survey of glaciers. From 2009 they apply the same geomatic techniques in the analysis of Cantabrian beaches and coastal cliffs dynamic. The objective is increase the present day information and to know the recent evolution of beaches and cliffs. The geomatic techniques used to analyse the dynamics are terrestrial scanner laser (TSL) and total station, with accuracy of ± 1cm. Three areas are studied in this work: the Cabo-Gerra beach, Somo beach and Erillo cove. The technique used in the Cabo-Gerra beach is the laser scanner (grid density of 50 cm at distances of 100 m), resulting in more than 200 million points with a positional uncertainty of 6mm. In the Somo beach exist topographic profiles between 1988 and 1993, and now the retreat has been measured using laser scanner. Finally, in the Erillo cove is used the “reflectorless” total station to determine the horizontal and vertical displacement of the slid body and also a large block (cm/year).
