Resumen

This work study aims to investigate the habits of extensive or pleasure reading and intensive or academic reading and the relationship with language learning concerning university students. The work was carried out in a public university in Spain with students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education of the plurilingual itinerary. It is a mixed research, as it includes both quantitative data collected from a questionnaire and qualitative data as a result of a focus group. The results are divided into three sections: the participants' language background based on the study of grammar; their preference for digital format and little dedication to extensive reading; and their disinterest in academic texts in relation to intensive reading. Finally, some recommendations are presented in relation to the training of pre-service teachers according to the results of this study.
