Resumen

Physical fitness in sports such as basketball is in continuous evolution due to the fact that the conditional section of the players is becoming and more decisive in the game. For this, the main objective of this Doctoral Thesis is to increase the limited scientific knowledge related to physical fitness in players of formative stages and elite level. For this, the literature is mainly focused on amateur category teams made up of high-level teams or national teams. The level of players analyzed, the demographics and the economic resources mean that the variety in the selected tests or instruments used is heterogeneous. For this, an instrument has been designed that assesses the athlete's physical performance through different tests. In addition, differences have been established in the quantification of the load they bear during the tests based on age, gender, training methodology or specific position. Performance profiles have been established based on these variables. Regarding the relationships between tests that assess different abilities, the results show that there is a relationship between some of the tests. These results facilitate the work of the physical trainer to know the physical state of the athlete without having to perform the entire designed battery. Finally, the importance of good physical fitness performance in competition and how physical condition influences performance indicators is shown.
