Resumen

The Praileaitz I cave has been the subject of various studies in order to delimit its protection area due to the cave paintings discovered within the cave. This work presents the endokarstic stratigraphy of its deposits, characterized by 7 different stages with erosive processes intercalated: 5 stages are characterized by the formation of speleothems and 2 stages record the input of alochtonous detrital sediment. Based on the already existing dating data and on the information obtained in this work, the evolutionary frame of the endokarstic infilling has been established. The chemical sedimentation is attributed to the wettest periods (Wurm? and onset of the Holocene) whereas the allochthonous detrital sedimentation is related (1) to the erosion of the Albian siliciclastic formations during the Solutrean and Magdalenian, and (2) of the immature soils created from the limestone hostrock in recent times.
