Zusammenfassung
The economic crisis of recent years has forced a paradigm shift in urban planning that, nowadays, bets on the recovery of consolidated space after the abandonment and degradation it suffered as a consequence of the previous expansionist model. In this research, we address the case of Zamora because it presents uniquely sensitive conditions within the community of Castilla y León. Contemporaneity was a turning point in the development of the capital −inert since the Late Middle Ages− and marks the beginning of this study that continues until the global crisis of the 70s of the 20th century. Over more than a hundred years, the urban dynamics of the town are evaluated under a holistic view that interweaves the contributions from the different fields that take the city as an object of study. The revision and extension of the historical account about the formation and consolidation of the contemporary urban fabric of the Castilian capital, has allowed us to recognize the essential role played by certain emerging elements in the formation of its fundamental structure, shaped until the dawn of the 1930s. Likewise, through the analysis of planning −which was established as the main mechanism of intervention on the city from the middle of the century−, and the policies developed in urban planning and housing, the city model has been drawn up at different times in its evolution.
