Introduction Amelogenesis imperfecta is a hereditary disease that represents a serious functional and aesthetic problem for patients who suffer from it. The treatments offered are multidisciplinary, covering several modalities throughout them. The purpose of this review focuses on the part of prosthetic treatment, which is the most appropriate for these patients and at what time in life it is most convenient to perform it. Material and methods Several electronic databases were reviewed for this review from 10 years from its publication to the present, including all types of articles and written in English. Results 18 articles were selected, of which 4 were retrospective studies and 14 clinical cases, 7 from pediatric patients and 7 from adult patients. Most defend different but similar prosthetic treatment -depending on age or type of amelogenesis- and at an early age. Conclusions Prosthetic treatment improves the quality of life of patients with amelogenesis imperfecta, being the most common with crowns on posterior teeth and veneers on anterior. Interventions in pediatric patients show positive results.
