Resumen
This paper analyses the question of social welfare measuring. The methodology used is that of distance synthetic indicator "DP2". This indicator, defined by Pena Trapero has interesting properties, such as "the neutrality". It is very useful to measure welfare through social indicators. Also, a criterium for the selction of variables is defined. And we have applied this criterium, so as the "DP2", to the spanish situation. The reults are compared to those obtained by the INE through "Principal Components".
