The reforms made to the Alcázar de Toledo, initiated by Carlos V from 1542 and continued by Felipe II, respects, to a certain degree, its old medieval layout and structure, except, among other areas, the main façade (north area) and the cuarto de Mediodía, which became the main part of the building. The discovery of certain documents related to the construction of the cuarto, allows a better understanding of the building process of the Alcázar, when clarifying which of the medieval aspects of the original building remain and which were transformed due to the new demands of the Renaissance world.
