Résumé

The Maracaibo plain has acceptable agroecological condition to the mango production. The mango variety Irwin and Tommy Atkins are productive in the region. It is necessary evaluate in both cultivars variety pruning influence and potassium nitrate and potassium tiosulphate application over the mango fruit production. The research was carried out carries out on the Maracaibo plain, at Centro Frutícola (CENFRUZU) Mara Municipality, Zulia State, Venezuela. For the analyzed period, productive cycles 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. A factorial design was used, with two treatments of pruning at two levels (without pruning and with pruning), two flowering inductor levels (potassium nitrate KNO3 6% and potassium tiosulphate TSK 1%), a control also used, without pruning and inductor. The treatments were located at random using two varieties: Irwin and Tommy Atkins with four plants per treatment. Each of the two productive cycles two different essays were carried out considering early and late induction that means four essays over different plots. Harvesting periods occurred 25 a 30 days earlier for Irwin variety when potassium nitrate potassium was applied. Nitrate potassium and potassium tiosulphate diminished in more than 30 days the time for harvesting fruits for two varieties and both inductions. Meantime 80% of production was concentrated in two initial months when potassium nitrate was applied. Results of this research showed that potassium nitrate combined with pruning over Irwin variety reached the best behavior production, during both inductions, compared with others applied treatments. in shorter time during early induction and concentrated periods and fruits harvesting for both inductions.
