Abstract
In France, songs have always been influential ideological tools from the first epic poems to the recent rap or alternative rock songs. These artistic and entertaining creations use discursive ideological strategies with the aim of persuading or convincing, through linguistic choices. In this paper, I apply Halliday�s (2004) systemic functional grammar and van Dijk�s (2003) principles of Critical Discourse Analysis to gain an insight into the way songs can help to spread ideology.
