Abstract

Deep social, political, aesthetic and artistic changes that transform the Europe of the beginning of twentieth century will radically modify the perception of the stage, till that moment identified with the tradition of bourgeois theater. We will follow the process that will end with the disappearance of the box set through the analysis of three basic works from Russian avant-garde theatre: the cubofuturist opera Victory over the sun that shows the way to abstraction in set designs, the play The Magnanimous Cuckold that works the idea of dynamic composition focused on stage elements and last Tarelkin´s death where movement becomes the most important part of the stage. These works influence can be recognised nowadays, what shows its validity one century after being projected.
