Abstract
In this paper, we analyze job quality in Spain during the period 2000-2007 by designing synthetic indicators. The research is based on a concept of job quality consisting of four dimensions: quality of employment conditions, quality of job conditions, quality of labor relations, and quality of social policy. From this approach, a system of social indicators is set up using P2 distance methodology, permitting us to design synthetic indicators by dimensions as well as an overall Synthetic Indicator of Job Quality. This analysis explores the importance of each variable in determining job quality and its evolution down through time in regions. The main findings of this study show a slow increase in job quality in the different regions analyzed, as well as a trend toward regional homogeneity.
