Abstract

The main patio of the Alcazar of Segovia has attracted attention since its construction due to the contrast offered by its granite factory in an environment dominated by ocher and limestone, by the grandeur of its monolithic pillars and by the sobriety of its classicist lines. The first historians of Spanish art history attributed its construction to Francisco de Mora between 1587 and 1598. A detailed analysis of dates and the new data found in the Archivo de Simancas show that the correct dates for its construction were between 1574 and 1595 in several phases, some very separated from each other, in which different masters of works intervened.
