Resumen
This contribution presents the possibilities offered by the methods of Citizen Science to give a voice to the territories and their inhabitants. The aim is to understand the complex facts derived from depopulation and low population density that afflict a significant proportion of the Spanish rural environment. Un- der this perspective and objectives, the GEOVACUI Project tests the combination of the analytical methods of Geography and those of Citizen Science, that is, a collective work in network that includes the collection, storage and treatment of the information, its presentation by cartographic viewers, and the subsequent dissemination of results. Four pilot provinces have been chosen for its implemen- tation. They are diverse in their initial conditions and possibilities of response to the phenomenon of rural depopulation: Burgos, Madrid (Sierra Norte), Teruel and Málaga (interior).
