Resumo

Histopathology has played an important role over the last decades both in the diagnosis and in the knowledge of prognostic factors and the biological behavior of the uveal melanoma, to which cytogenetic and molecular biology tests have now been added. Greater precision in the evaluation of the patient’s prognosis. Its fundamental role is the confirmation of the diagnosis, the staging of the disease, and the evaluation of fundamental prognostic factors (size, location, cell type, mitotic activity, extraocular extension, vascular patterns) that will help in the selection of patients of risk for participation in clinical trials.
