Zusammenfassung
The 8/2021 Act was passed in the Spanish Parliament in ten months, with broad consensus among the political forces and after a long wait following Spain’s ratification of the New York Convention on Persons with Disabilities. This reform of Spanish Private Law means a paradigm shift in the regime of legal capacity of persons. The new regulation seeks to achieve the effective respect for the full personal autonomy of people with disabilities by creating the legal instruments of support they need.
