Abstract

Since Steven Spielberg and George Lucas got influenced by Ian Fleming and his James Bond in order to conceive the new model of adventurous hero that would eventually make up the mythology of Indiana Jones, the shadow of the archetype of the character has been evolving in an analogous way both in the cinema and in the video game, expanding itself in different contexts. Adaptations and influences of round trip between two different universes that work under its own codes, belonging to the fictional and ludoficcional spheres respectively. Two irreconcilable areas that work with different narrative mechanisms anchored to the native medium; where a video game creates the personification through putting us in the skin of the protagonist and letting us perform various actions, the film can only aspire to make us identify with him through his emotions. The present paper aims to unravel this route through his three main pillars: Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and Nathan Drake, to raise the question of whether there is or not a reliable unadaptability between the film and the video game.
