Zusammenfassung
The finding of Upper Paleolithic engravings in 2016 triggered a multidisciplinary study of the Alkerdi karst system (Urdazubi, Western Pyrenees). The study of the speleogenetic processes suggested at least 6 paragenetic cave levels. The origin of the sedimentary infill in each level could have been from the outside, or from the older superior levels (Arriolabengoa et al., 2019). To expand this hypothesis, we have analyzed the OSL signal of 2 sediment samples collected from levels 4 and 1. Quartz grains have been analyzed following SAR protocol using Single Grain. The statistical analysis of the Equivalent Dose (De) values distribution (>400 grains), shows different quartz populations in the same sample. Therefore, the quartz grains were exposed to sunlight in different moments in the past. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the potential of the OSL signal analysis to differentiate sand grains with different origin in the same sedimentary deposit. The results are preliminary and experimental, as there are no previous references on this topic. The aim of the work is the discussion of the encouraging results and the weaknesses of the method.
