Abstract

This paper shows the results of a study based on path analysis about the predictive and mediatorrole of environmental awareness on the conceptions of Pre-service Primary teachers about scienceeducation. The model thus obtained is validated through a representative sample of 300 studentsfrom a four-year university degree for teacher training. The method of unweighted least squares isused to perform the analysis and the results show a good fit to the data model. Therefore, it isassumed that students with higher levels of environmental awareness may be more effective intheir future teaching profession. Consequently, the increase in environmental practices in schoolsmakes a small but important contribution to the overall improvement of the environment and thetraining of future citizens.
