Mentoring is understood as a process of backing, orientation and guide from a person more experienced to another novel in some social or work environment. Mentoring is applied in different scopes, including education. However, recently, this practice was not gender-sensitive. But in recent years, the low percentage of women in technology has blown up alarms. Causes and solutions are being looked for. The diagnosis includes the lack of acquisition of some competencess by female children and teenagers. This is the reason why a gender mentoring has emerged, especially focused on women acquiring these competencies, which will encourage the interest in technology by women. The data that justify this concern is presented in this paper. We introduce a project, initiated this academic year at the University of Valladolid, which is supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering, to facilitate the acquisition of competencies among the students University, with an especial projection on earlier stages of the education. It is also presented a study on the valuation of competencies that these experiences pretend to develop both, in the subject mentor and in the mentee, based on the experience of those who are participating in this project.
