Abstract

This article studies a set of tapestries from the Caprotti Palace in the city of Ávila, a collection of exceptional interest because of its artistic relevance, the value of the place where it is located, and for how it exhibits certain problems common to many of Spain's textile collections. We will focus on aspects such as the origin of these tapestries, chronology, heraldry and the formation of the collection. We will take a stylistic and iconographic approach, focusing on the collection's most outstanding pieces. Our objective is to shed light on this unknown collection and correct some aspects of traditional understandings of these artworks.
