Resumo

The aim of the present study was to analyze the effect of the uterine fluid (late follicular phase) on sperm quality with or without seminal plasma. Four experimental groups were used: 1) (-/-): spermatozoa incubated without seminal plasma and uterine fluid (control group); 2) (+/-) spermatozoa incubated with 20% of seminal plasma and without uterine fluid; 3) (-/+): spermatozoa incubated without seminal plasma and with 20 % of uterine fluid, 4) (+/+): spermatozoa with seminal plasma (20%) and uterine fluid (20%). Motility (%), progressive motility (scale [0-5], 0= non motile; 5= high progressivity), vitality and acrosomal damage were measured at 15 min, 1 and 2 hour of incubation. Results showed that seminal plasma has a positive effect on sperm quality, improving linearity and progressive motility. Besides, seminal plasma prevents acrosomal damage. On the other hand, the uterine fluid doesn´t affect any of these parameters (motility, progressive motility and vitality). Although, the uterine fluid whether affects acrosomal integrity in absence of seminal plasma. Therefore, the adding of seminal plasma to insemination seminal doses could be a strategy to improve artificial insemination efficiency
