Resumen

The phenomenon of cyberbullying in the university context in Colombia has not been much studied at the present time, since the main studies have focused on the population of primary and secondary education. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to analyze and describe the incidence of victimization through the new information and communication technologies(Internet and cell phone), examining the possible differences with respect to gender and faculty. The sample consisted of 639 students from the UniversidadPontificia Bolivariana, Bucaramanga, Colombia (boys N = 303, girls N = 334). The results indicated that 27.5% of the sample has been a victim of cyberbullying on at least one occasion, with duration for the vast majority of at least one month. In addition, no statistically significant differences were reported with respect to gender and faculty. The conclusions lead us to understand that victims ofcyberbullying are a fairly frequent group and require specialized intervention strategies, focused on different actions that could be effective such as working with parents, assisting peers, tutorial lines (for example, videos or interactive games), and more.
