Resumen

The Ricobayo reservoir area (Zamora) presents a geosite called “Pliegues del Teso del Rey – Castrotorafe – La Encomienda”. It is a set of fold trains that affect the Ordovician quartzite and it is characterised by its geological, geomorphological and tectonic interest, as well as its tourist and educational potential, which lacks in certain cases of protection. Due to the high degree of fractures and erosion, the formation of small spaces or rock shelters is favored in these rocks. These types of structures are also elements that have allowed interaction with human activity since their origins and which, due to their characteristics, constitute suitable environments for the development of rock-art, which is the reason to propose this outcrop in the geosites list. Schematic rock-art is characterised by the reproduction of geometric traces that constitute synthetic abstract representations of everyday elements. This type of pictorial representation was widespread between the early Neolithic (VIth-Vth millennium B.C.E.) and the Bronze Age and may have continued till the beginning of the Iron Age (Ist millennium B.C.E.). This paper documents the discovery of a new schematic assemblage consisting of six panels with anthropomorphic and zoomorphic motifs and fingerprints recently located by the authors in Santa Eufemia del Barco (Zamora). Besides, their geological and cultural heritage relationship were analyzed.
