Abstract
This article traces the development of the Cadiz Constituion of 1812, not only as the culmination of liberal revolution in Spain and the first major achievement in Spanish constitutionalism, but also as the original integral law for much of Spanish America and a model text for other constitutions writtten in Portugal, Italy, an the new American republics.
