Abstract

This work focuses on the journeys that different intellectuals and people inspired by them made to Las Hurdes in the first decades of the XXth century. In those years Spain’s regeneration and national construction were two of the main national matters and the intellectuals played an important role on them. This research suggests the hypothesis of considering the intellectuals’ commitment for the development of Las Hurdes as an identification with their mission in national regeneration and proposes to look at their journeys and actions in this region as an example and materialization of their will of building a nation.
