Resumen

The evolution of the digestibility and of the different fractions of four species of the Trifolium genus: T. cherleri, T. striatum, T. glomeratum and T. dubium, are studied. The variables studied are NDF, ADF, CC, lignin, hemicellulose, cellulose, protein, DNDF, DCC and DMD. Analysis was carried out after VAN SOEST; protein was calculated according to the method of KjELDALH. During the development of each of the four clovers, NDF together with ADF, lignin, cellulose and DNDF increase, whereas CC, protein, DCC and DMD decrease. Considering the species individually, greater concentrations of CC, DCC and DMD are to be found in T. dubium, and T. cherleri contains the greatest amounts of NDF, ADF, hemicellulose and DNDF. The other two species occupy intermedíate positions; though, generally, T. striatum is somewhat more similar to T. cherleri than T. glomeratum. With respect to DMD, it is of interest that similar valúes are found for the four clovers, because it is the sum of DCC and DNDF.
