Resum

The halal market has become a reality in Spain. Certification processes, initially based on trust between traders and consumers, have become highly professionalised. Halal products processed in Spain are recognised for their quality and guarantee of compliance with Islamic precepts. Although the demand for halal products in Spain is still low, several companies have decided to enter this market. This article analyses the current dimension of the halal trade in Spain, taking as a reference the adaptation of the meat industry to these new processes. In addition to analysing the evolution of the industry and its current impact, the article examines the methods used to sell halal products and highlights the benefits that the halal commitment has brought to many of the companies involved.
