Abstract
The following article offers a critical reflection about the material and the formal aspects that frame a learning portfolio in a class of German as a foreign language. To pursue and achieve this aim, the artist’s book as an object of aesthetical experimenting – undergone by many projects of contemporary art – will be emphasized as a comparative term. To make a possible and productive comparison between the concepts of “learning portfolio” and “artist’s book” (both very fluid and flexible), several experimental works by Dieter Roth will beaddressed, helping us to understand the role that contemporary artistic creation plays in teaching German as a foreign language. Consequently, not only the linguistic but also the literary and cultural skills and competences can be improved and reinforced.
