Resumen
The use of metallic materials able to work in hydrogen environments, under high working pressures, is now a challenge for the scientific community. The influence of hydrogen on the mechanical behavior of a 42CrMo4 steel grade, with two different PAGS, has been evaluated by means of high pressure hydraulic fracture tests. Hydraulic fracture tests have been carried out on hydrogen precharged notched cylindrical specimens. Notched cylindrical specimens were precharged for 3 h and 1.2 mA/cm2, with two different solutions: 1 M H2SO4 + 0.25 g/l As2O3 and 3.5% of NaCl, respectively. Hydraulic fracture tests were performed under different ramps of pressure: from 220 to 30 MPa/h. The interaction hydrogen/microstructure is analyzed by Thermal Desorption Analysis (TDA) and electrochemical permeation experiments. Finally, hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility is discussed through the PAGS and the operative hydrogen embrittlement micromechanisms.
