Résumé
The Literary Osterie initiative was organized by the province cultural committee of Padua from 2001 to 2005. Many Osterie in and outside the town where the places where famous male and female writers from Veneto and Italy attracted a large public with a busy schedule of meetings. The idea of Padua Literary Osterie was that of creating a meeting point for culture that mixed the taste and aesthetics of good food with a discussion on male or female authors and their work. The meetings always started at 6.30 pm. First the same authors or critics presented a book, then there would be a usually lively debate and finally they tasted local food. The literary Osteria became an important place in the construction of the local identity of a territory through its memory. Literary Osterie were free, without any previous booking. With its university tradition, Padua had already combined food, books and culture in the past. Significantly, the old university was born in the building of a former medieval Osteria. Female writers were present and used their memory and personal inspiration as the poetic or narrative content of their works.
