Resum

This contribution reviews some attempts to integrate the aspect into the Spanish verbal system in order to evaluate to what extent this verbal category is necessary for its proper characterization. Several observations on the relevance of the proposals based on opposi-tions and aspectual types are presented in order to raise some objections about the extrap-olation of these models to the semantic description of the Spanish verbal forms and of the way in which they interact.
