Abstract

Taking advantage of the approval of Royal Decree 135/2021, of 2 March 2021, which approves the General Statute of Spanish Lawyers, in force since July 1st, 2021, as well as the high number of practicing collegiate lawyers —more than 153,000 according to the latest data— which results in a high level of supply and competition among professionals, it is relevant to ask ourselves if the competitive relations derived from the practice of law may incur in the unfair competition of sale at loss as provided for in article 17 of the Unfair Competition Law. The present work begins by analyzing the context and the applicable regulations to the practice of law, as well as the aforementioned precept and its requirements, to later tie to the practice of law and terminate with some final considerations.
