Résumé

Home-assisted delivery is not included in the common standard of care of Spanish health services, however the empowerment of the role of women in childbirth has meant that many of them consider this option. our objective was to analyze the available scientific evidence in relation to home birth versus hospital birth. To this end, a bibliographic review was carried out in the period from December 1 to April 1, 2017, in the Pubmed, Scielo and Cochran databases, of articles published in full text in the last 10 years. Selecting 17 relevant articles, which showed the dissatisfaction with the current model of institutionalized birth care as a reason for choosing this path. Higher rate of vaginal deliveries not intervened, less number of episiotomies, less anxiety and depression. larger investigations are needed, which in case of scientifically evidenced the delivery at home as a safe option, allow to unify the professional criteria and protocolize this assistance offering it in a safe way to women.
