Zusammenfassung

The Doppler color it’s an instrument that measure the resistance of the blood flow, it`s a very useful diagnostic tool, but it has not been fully studied in veterinary medicine. The knowledge of this parameter, it`s a reference tool for the diagnostic of pathologies like thrombosis, stenosis, obstruction, renal ischemia, hypoperfusion in the renal artery, renal failure. The study was conducted in 28 kidneys of 15 dogs of small size clinically healthy. The objective was to identify the waveform spectrum of the renal artery, the systolic peak velocity and diastolic velocity, then calculate the resistive index and systolic/diastolic index. The waveform spectrum of the renal artery was biphasic low resistance. The values of systolic peak velocity was 24.45 – 200.30 cm/s cm/s; the diastolic velocity was 7.68 – 51.23 cm/s.; the resistive index was 0.52 – 0.88, if the resistive index is lowest the renal artery, the kidney has a better irrigation, but if the resistive index is highest than normal, the kidney has a poor irrigation and the kidney could present a pathology; and the systolic/diastolic index was 2.09 – 8.03. The resistance index of renal artery is used for the evaluation of kidney diseases; this index depends on the measurement of the maximum peak systolic and diastolic velocity.
