Abstract

Research in the main archaeological sites of Ojo Guareña Cave System, one of the largest European caves, has been resumed since 2016, with the objective of establishing a chronological sequence of the occupation of the underground space. The new archaeological dates recently published for the cave art sanctuaries in the Cardboard Room and the Paintings Room (Ortega et al., 2020), as well as the area of the Footprints Room and Galleries (Ortega et al., 2021), confirm the reiteration of prehistoric explorations, documenting even visits in historical phases in this complex of caves. This paper brings together the results of research in these sectors, inserted in the general context of Ojo Guareña.
