Resumen

El empleo de lenguas antiguas en los medios audiovisuales tiene una presencia escasa debido a las dificultades de reconstrucción y producción que entrañan, pero poco a poco se han ido convirtiendo en un elemento cada vez más presente en las producciones cinematográficas y televisivas de género histórico. En muchos casos, el uso de fuentes literarias permite dotar a las narrativas fílmicas de una base argumental que proporciona un primer acceso a algunas de las temáticas. En el presente trabajo nos centraremos en analizar la presencia que han tenido las lenguas antiguas germánicas, concentradas mayoritariamente en el nórdico antiguo debido a la mayor fama de los vikingos, así como los usos y funciones que estas lenguas desempeñan en el cine.
